Being Thankful

Thanksgiving represents a lot of things these days, but I hope that you have not lost your sense of just plain being thankful.  When you stop and think about it, and we all should, there are SO many things to be thankful for.  There are daily things to be thankful for like; the joy of taste, mobility, sight, colors, music and touch.  There are friendships and family, work and rest.

Even for those who find themselves in need or difficulty, there are eternal things to be thankful for.  Paul writes in I Thessalonians 5:18, “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  In reality, we all have limited time here and yet God offers us the gift of forgiveness and eternal life extended through faith in Jesus Christ.  I am thankful for that.

I am also thankful for the ways that I have seen God at work in others this year.  Individuals stepping out in faith, joining a Mission Team and traveling to distant places to share the message of hope. Friends and family members sacrificing so that they could be part of their support team.  Hosts, graciously welcoming strangers into their homes and neighborhoods to partner together in unity of purpose. Lives that have been changed through new faith in Christ.

Don’t forget to thank the Lord this Thanksgiving for all of the many blessings that you have received and for the amazing people who He has allowed you to get to know, serve and grow with throughout the year.tell_missionmakr
