This past weekend, the Lord brought together 700 men, women and students who participated in the 2nd National African American Missions Conference. There were testimonies, ministry spotlights, times of corporate worship, powerful drama and dance, helpful workshops and challenging messages, all aimed at mobilizing and equipping the African American church to thoroughly pursue God and His global mission.
It was inspiring to hear the testimonies of both experienced missionaries and those just staring out. It was evident that even with a variety of ages, churches, ministries, races and seasons of life represented, there was a strong sense of unity and warm fellowship in Christ.
The conference also featured practical workshops to help individuals and churches sharpen their skills, understand the challenges and take away new tools to help them more fully engage in God’s mission. It was a great pleasure to be part of the workshop presenters and discuss how churches can make more out of missions. We saw a lot of interest in using MissionMakr to better organize short term teams and engage a broader support team throughout the trip.
I am already thinking about friends that I can invite for next year’s conference. It will be held on June 25-27. You may want to mark it on your calendars and invite your African American friends to attend. I know that they will be challenged and inspired. You can find out more at gcgm.org.
A special thank you to David B. for joining me on this trip. We have a wonderful MissionMakr team.
